GOT. Beyond the structural paradigm. The nature of mechanobiology and neuroscience within treatment
Pascal Grolaux, BSc, DO, MOst, Dr (Hon) ACoPM will review with you the original fundamentals and philosophy of the Body Adjustment and bring for the first time scientific concepts of mechanobiology and neuroscience. Don't miss the opportunity to learn from a senior classically-trained osteopath!
Time & Location

Truro, 692 Prince St, Truro, NS B2N 1G6, Canada
About the event
In this course, Pascal Grolaux, will demonstrate and guide you to evidence-based (HRV analysis) practice of the Body Adjustment (BA) (known as the GOT) as originally thaught to him by J. Wernham, based on JM Littlejohn philosophy and principles of Osteopathy and first demonstrated and used by AT Still.
We will stress the role of science in mechanobiology which includes the phenomenon of mechanotransduction which is essentially what osteopathy represents.
This course will be mostly practice-based and we will demonstrate principles of assessment and Body Adjustment including specifics Osteopathic Manipulative Technics (OMT) and an original demonstration of the assessment of the neuro-physiological effects by heart variability analysis (HRV), i.e. the sympatho-vagal balance. Specific OMT, spine, upper and lower limbs, and visceral techniques will be reviewed and included in the course of the Body Adjustment.
At the end of the course you will be able to better understand the purpose of the BA (GOT), to better practice it on a patient-centered approach, and to offer this gentle but powerful treatment (general and specific) to your patients as you will have been witness, for the first time, most probably, of its neuro-physiological effects. Indeed HRV analysis will be performed before and after application of the BA, so that you will see its physiological effects.
Note: HRV analysis will be done by short-term EKG and the Kubios Premium/Scientific software.
Via our link to the Institute of Classical Osteopathy (ICO) (London), Library Store, on our website, you can easily connect to the ICO and order classical osteopathic books, from Littlejohn, Jonh Wernham and others with a fast delivery to Canada.
TOTAL CEUs EARNED: 21h
Join us in this original evidence-based course to re-exploring the traditional osteopathic principle of the Body Adjustment linked with the science of mechanobiology and applied neuroscience. The course is mostly focussed on practice!
EKG will be provided for the Heart Rate Variability analysis.
